Advent 2021: Hope Has a Name
For more than 1700 years, followers of Jesus have marked the Christmas season in a way that is distinct from the larger culture around them. While so many around us are looking to the festivities of the season - the lights, songs, gatherings, and gifts - for hope, especially after the last two years, we know our hope lies in something and someone much greater.
This year for Advent, we’re remembering that our hope as Christians is found not in a season, but in the person this season celebrates - our Savior Jesus Christ. The one who, as Isaiah 9:6 prophesies would be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
Hope does have a name, and His name is Jesus.
