What is God’s will for my career?
How can I be true to my faith when I’m working in an environment that values the bottom line over doing what is right and just?
Does my work matter apart from making a salary to provide for me and my family?
If you’ve ever wrestled with these questions or others, our summer Formation Class seeks to help you connect some of these dots. We will spend two weeks looking at how our relationship to Jesus impacts our daily work.
Whether you are the leader of a large organization or serve as a volunteer in your community, your work matters in God's bigger story. Join us as we pause to reimagine work through the lens of God's original design and intent.
We believe the church is central to all God is doing in the world. When you read the New Testament, wherever the gospel is proclaimed, people believe, disciples are made, and then churches are formed. When you put your faith in Jesus, you don't just get God as your Father, but you are now put in relationship with other Christians who are your brothers and sisters in Christ. You are now a part of the larger global Church, lived out in small local expressions, such as Citizens Church Charlotte.
This is why membership is so important. It's you committing to play your role in the larger family of God through a particular local congregation.
Our Membership Class is the first step towards membership at Citizens Church. If you're interested in becoming a member at Citizens, or just interested in finding out more about who we are, join us on Sunday, June 9th from 2pm-5pm.
Coffee + snacks are provided. Childcare is not provided, but a stipend is available for those who need it. Please register and let us know!
We offer Citizens Basics on the 2nd Sunday of every month for anyone who is new to our church.
Led by various pastors and staff, this is a great chance to get all of your questions answered about our church -- including what we believe, where we're headed as a church, and how you can be a part of that.
Snacks and childcare are provided, but please register in advance.
On Saturday, June 1st we will hold our semi-annual Family Meeting. This is a chance for us as a church to celebrate God’s faithfulness, to commemorate what He is doing in our church, to worship together, and to look for what God might do in the months ahead.
This year, we are doing it church potluck style! Citizens will be providing pulled pork for dinner.
If your last name starts with A-N bring a side, if O-Z bring a dessert to share!
We will worship and hear church-wide updates from 4:00pm-5:00pm then spend the rest of the evening eating and hanging out together.
This meeting is open to any current Citizens Member or Member-in-Progress. Childcare will be provided.

Join us on Sunday, March 31st for a celebration of the resurrection of Jesus! We will have worship, a short teaching on the reason for the resurrection, and then celebrate as a church family after the gathering with a block party! We’ll have fun activities for both kids + adults, food trucks with food for purchase, and music.
Throughout Scripture, in both Old and New Testaments, God's people are called to remember. But they are not called to remember events for the sake of the event. They are called to remember because those events are part of who they are, and what they will become. It is in this mode of remembering, of re-presenting the events of the past as part of a living story that has not yet ended, a story in which we still participate, that the events become more than dates and places. They become markers of a journey as those who were no people become a people, as those who lived in the darkness come into the light of God's presence, are drawn ever nearer to God and his grace.
Good Friday is one of those days of remembering for the people of God.
It is the day we remember the crucifixion of Jesus. The day is called “good” not because we are celebrating Jesus’ death, but rather we are celebrating what His death accomplished. Through His death on the cross, Jesus has paid for our sin and His resurrection is coming.
This year, we are remembering Good Friday together through an ancient method known as The Stations of the Cross.
The Stations of the Cross guide us on a contemplative journey in which we reflect deeply on the Via Dolorosa, or the Way of Sorrow. Each station marks a specific scene in the crucifixion of Jesus, causing us to contemplate the suffering and death of our Savior.
Participants are welcome to come walk through the self-guided experience at anytime between 7am and 7pm.

Ash Wednesday marks the start of the church season of Lent - a season set aside by the global church reflect upon our brokenness, contemplate our great need for forgiveness and remember the events leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion.
Our Ash Wednesday Gathering will be a chance to start our church-wide fast in this season, as well as to remember our frailty, as the Scriptures say — “we are dust, and to dust we shall return.” (Gen 3:18).
This year, we will have two identical services in the Calhoun Room at the Dowd YMCA at 7am and 7pm.
We encourage you to pick one of the two services to attend. Each service will start on time and last for 45 minutes.
Please note - childcare will not be provided but children are welcome in the services with us.
Come hang out with us at Vaulted Oak Brewing after the Gathering on February 13th to enjoy some beer, pizza, and the Super Bowl!

This year we will have no Sunday Gathering on December 24th. This break allows our staff and volunteers to travel to be with family, celebrate the past year together, and prepare for the upcoming one.
Gatherings will resume on Sunday, December 31.
On Friday, December 22nd, we will be gathering at the Matthews Playhouse with other local churches across our city to celebrate the birth of King Jesus together. This will be a traditional Lessons & Carols service, where we will sing traditional Christmas worship songs, hear the story of the birth of Jesus read through various passages of Scripture, and take intentional time to reflect on the meaning of this season.
Childcare will be provided for ages 6 weeks - 2 years old. The service will be family friendly, and should last about 45 minutes.
This is a small part of a citywide collaboration of like-minded churches, seeking to partner together to launch, lead, and multiply thriving churches.
Every year we take time to get away for a weekend as a church family to pause, rest, make memories, and seek the Lord together. This is one of the key moments in the life of our church each fall, and we’d love for you to join us.
This year, we are heading to the YMCA Blue Ridge Assembly in Black Mountain, NC. We will be staying in two cabins on the property, and will have a main meeting area for family style meals and sessions. We will have a family cabin for families with kids and a second cabin which will be split up by men’s and women’s floors. We believe this will help maximize our time together building relationships and being family.
Cost is $100 per adult and $25 per child. This covers 2 nights of lodging, as well as breakfast and dinner on Saturday and Breakfast on Sunday, and some new Citizens swag.
If cost is a barrier to you going, or if you have logistical questions, email Dan at dalex@citizenscharlotte.com.
If you have any questions about childcare or family needs, email Brooke at bswift@citizenscharlotte.com.

One of our values as a church is that of presence, the ability to show up and engage with one another who live, work, and play close to us. To that end, we are hosting a South Charlotte Neighborhood Cookout on August 25th to connect people within our broader church family who live in that area.
If you live in Ballantyne, Pineville, Steel Creek, Fort Mill, LoSo or any of the surrounding area, come join us and meet others who call Citizens home!
Please RSVP for location and further details!

What does it mean to live a flourishing life as a single person? Why is dating in the modern world so confusing? How do I navigate through all of these questions, decisions, and frustrations?
On July 16 & 23, we’ll offer a class on how to live and date well as a single follower of Jesus. If you are single, in the dating world, or have friends who are single or dating to whom you want to be helpful, this is the class for you.
This is a two-part class, taking place over two consecutive Sundays, from 11:00am-1:00pm.
Becoming a parent is equal parts exciting, nerve-racking, and exhausting. Your schedule changes, your rhythms change, and sometimes even your friendships change. With many families in our church becoming first-time parents, we want to help equip new moms and dads to be the best parents they can be. We also want to provide help and encouragement for the moms and dads who feel as if they aren’t up to the task.
We’ll be hosting a Parenting Class on June 18th and July 9th (you only need to register for one of the times).
This class is required for everyone who wishes to participate in the Parent Commissioning at the Gathering on Sunday, August 20th.
Parents with children of any age are welcome to attend.
Childcare is provided for the class if needed.
Join us for a church-wide hangout at the Whitewater Center! We will grab a big spot together starting around 5pm. Live music starts at 7pm. Bring a chair or blanket and come have some fun!
Note - Parking at the Whitewater Center is $6 per vehicle, but entrance into the center and the concert is free!
