Summer Studies

  • Citizens Church Ministry Center 5221 Monroe Road Charlotte, NC, 28205 United States (map)

Details:

Over the past year, we have gathered together on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings to study various aspects of theology and the Christian life together as men and women. This summer, in lieu of another round of book studies, we are launching what we are calling “Summer Studies”. These are different classes open to Citizens members and attendees, that will equip our church family in various aspects of practical theology.

Classes meet at different times and cover different topics. We encourage every participant to not miss more than one class time. Classes will be held at the Citizens Ministry Center - 5221 Monroe Rd. Please register in advance.

Refreshments are provided for each class. Childcare is not.

Course Descriptions:

Bible 101 - Do ever sit down in the morning to read the Bible and find yourself scratching your head, left with more questions than answers? How do we study the Bible? What are all these different books really about? This class spends 8 weeks giving an overview of Scripture, in-depth training on hermeneutical tools, and step by step tools to reading and studying the Bible on your own. Thursdays, 6:30am-7:30am. June 3 - July 22.

Money 101 - What is a budget anyways? Why do I keep ending the month with less money than I started? How do I stop living paycheck to paycheck? How much do I need to save for retirement? Can I afford to send my kids to college? This class spends 6 weeks looking at the ins-and-outs of practical money management from a Biblical foundation. Sundays, 11am-12pm. June 6 - July 18th (no class July 4).

Mission 101 - What does it mean to live “on mission?” I know I should share the gospel, but how do I actually do that? What does it look like for me to leverage my job for the sake of God’s Kingdom? What does it look like for followers of Jesus to engage in acts of justice? This class spends 8 weeks looking at the keys to living a missional life on the redemptive edge of the Kingdom of God. Tuesdays, 6:30am-7:30am. June 1 - July 20.
